How to recruit users for customer interviews on LinkedIn
To recruit customer interviews on LinkedIn, pick a small, precise group of users from your analytics, send each a short personal ask that says why them, and put one booking link in the reply. Keep the ask under 20 minutes and answer fast when they say yes.
LinkedIn works well for this because the ask comes from a person, not a product email. Here is the method, the messages, and how to run it without spending your week in the inbox.
Choose who to talk to before you write anything
The best interviews come from people with a specific, recent experience. Pick one group per round:
| Group | What you learn | Where to find them |
|---|---|---|
| Signed up, never activated | What blocked the first step | Your analytics (PostHog, Mixpanel) |
| Active power users | What they would never give up | Your analytics, your customer list |
| Churned in the last 60 days | Why they left | Billing tool or analytics cohort |
| Ideal customers who never tried | How they solve the problem today | LinkedIn search or signals |
Ten interviews in one group teach you more than ten spread across four.
Get the list into your outreach tool
You need each person’s LinkedIn profile URL. If your product doesn’t store it yet, add “Sign in with LinkedIn” or ask for it at signup, or run your export through an enrichment tool.
In Reachy, you don’t need to export by hand every time. A list can stay in sync with:
- A PostHog cohort, read with a read-only API key
- A Google Sheet shared by link
- A CSV or Excel file on your computer
- The members of a Slack channel, for community-led products
Reachy checks the source every day and adds new people, so “users who churned this month” stays current. You choose what happens when someone leaves the source, and people Reachy already contacted keep their history. More on the setup in re-engaging PostHog and Mixpanel users and running a campaign from a Google Sheet.
The message: why them, what you want, how long
Keep it under four lines. Say why you picked them, what you are asking, and how long it takes. No pitch.
For users who never activated:
Hi Sam, I’m the founder of [product]. You signed up in September and I’d love to understand what got in the way. Would you have 15 minutes for a call? No sales, just questions.
For power users:
Hi Ana, you’re one of the people who use [feature] the most. We’re deciding what to build next and your view would help a lot. Up for a 20-minute chat this week?
For churned users:
Hi Tom, I saw you stopped using [product] last month. No hard feelings, I just want to understand what we missed. 15 minutes, and I’ll send you [incentive] as thanks.
The reply: one link, same day
When someone says yes, answer within the hour with the booking link and nothing else. Every hour of delay costs interviews.
This is where Reachy’s AI replies help. Put your interview booking link in the AI replies context instead of a sales call link. When someone answers “sure, happy to help”, Reachy drafts the reply with the link and sends it to your phone on Telegram, Slack or Discord. You tap Send.
Replies that need you, like “what’s this about exactly?” from someone suspicious, are marked “Over to you” and left alone.
After the interview
- Thank them the same day, on LinkedIn, in one line
- Tell them what changed because of their feedback, when it ships
- Keep the list: these people are your best beta testers

Frequently asked questions
- Why recruit user interviews on LinkedIn instead of email?
- Interview requests by email compete with every product newsletter your users receive. A short LinkedIn message from a founder or product lead reads as a personal ask from a real person, and people answer those.
- How many people should I contact to get 10 interviews?
- It depends on how close they are to your product. Active users and recent churns answer far more than cold prospects. Start with a list of 50 to 100 well-chosen people, measure, and adjust.
- Should I offer an incentive for a user interview?
- For your own users, a sincere "your feedback shapes the product" and a short slot often work on their own. A gift card or a free month helps for longer sessions or for people who are not users yet.
